Laboratory Testing Services
APEC Engineering & Laboratory, LLC is pleased to now provide a wide variety of laboratory testing services.
Water Column Testing
Using a leakage test apparatus, each asphalt shingle is tested for leaks. Testing is performed for the time period and required cycles as defined in ASTM D7281.07.
Sample Cleaning & Soil Content Testing
This procedure is for removing and drying soil from samples of various types of construction materials, including building envelope materials, roof and wall materials. Data is used to compute the soil's capillary rise and surface tension.
Delamination Testing
This procedure separates layers of asphalt materials for the purpose of finding failures in the adhesive or at the interface between the adhesive and the adherend.
Tile Roof Physical Assessment Testing
This procedure is performed “in situ” at a client’s location. The overall condition of the roof is observed and details as to its condition are recorded. Findings are reported back to the client in the final report.
Metal Roof Physical Assessment Testing
This procedure is performed “in situ” at a client’s location. The overall condition of the roof is observed and details as to its condition are recorded. The data is reported back to the client in the final report.
Strength Testing of Panels for Construction
This test procedure is performed in the laboratory and involves mounting a test building component specimen, such as a wall panel, in a hydraulic press and then exerting crushing and racking loads on it. Sensors are attached to it to record the amount of deflection.
Large Missile Debris Impact Testing
This test procedure is performed in a laboratory setting. It can be used to test the strength of building materials being evaluated for new construction and to determine their eligibility for insurance. The test can also be used to simulate an actual storm event.
Window Frame Deflection Testing
This test is used to determine whether a building component such as a window is compliant with its relevant ASTM certification. This method may also be used with other test subjects such as doors, skylights, and curtain walls.
Atmospheric Corrosion Assessment & Testing
This testing measures the amount of corrosion on metal fasteners, sheet metal roof sub-layers, etc.
Water Penetration Testing
This procedure tests the integrity of roofs through forensic inspections. It covers field testing uplift resistance of adhered membrane roofing systems.
Moisture Assessment Testing
This procedure tests the presence and extent of moisture content in building surfaces.
Our laboratory holds accreditation through the International Accreditation Service for demonstrating compliance of standard general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
